Industrielle Produktentwicklung mit Nanomaterialien – können die Prozesse sicher und nachhaltig gestaltet werden?

Zusammenfassung:
(Der Vortrag findet auf Deutsch statt)

The fascinating properties of nanosized materials have boosted an unprecedented research activity around these small objects. At present, mainly nanoparticles and nanotubes are increasingly incorporated into everyday consumer products. Yet, we know few about the interaction of such novel constituents with humans or the environment. Criticism has arisen from this uncertainty and demands a more integrated development of industrial products. The present contribution shows how a detailed understanding of physical and chemical properties of nanoparticles can significantly improve the uncertainty and risks in nanomaterials development. The concepts will be highlighted on the bases of practical examples and the development of a large scale consumer product containing nanoparticles. The contribution will further demonstrate how presently used processes for oxide nanoparticle manufacturing can be extended for the preparation of complex salts, biomaterials and even specific metals.
